Middle School Sports Getting Recognition
The National Federation of Middle School Sports (NFMSS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that students at every level have access to meaningful athletic opportunities.
Middle school sports play a vital role in communities across the United States, yet they have often gone under-recognized. In many states, middle school student-athletes do not receive the same level of visibility, recognition, or competitive opportunities as their high school counterparts.
While middle schools offer a wide range of sports programs, there has historically been a lack of structured platforms for recognition – such as state championship opportunities, national visibility, and centralized systems for tracking and showcasing student-athlete performance.
NFMSS was created to change that.
We are building a national platform that provides middle school athletes, coaches, and schools with the recognition they deserve – through organized competition, championship pathways, and tools to highlight student achievement and performance.

Roster Submission, Eligibility & Enforcement Policy
Roster Submission & Verification
All member schools are required to submit official team rosters for each sport in which they are registered to participate in NFMSS competitions.
Rosters will be reviewed by NFMSS and verified by the school’s Athletic Director to confirm that all student-athletes are officially enrolled and eligible to represent their school.
No school will be allowed to participate in, or be scheduled for, any NFMSS event without submitting complete and verified rosters for each sport.
Player Eligibility Requirements
- Student-athletes must compete only for the middle school they are currently enrolled in
- Participation on multiple school teams is strictly prohibited
- Once a student-athlete is listed on a roster, they may not compete for another school during the same calendar year
Any exception must receive prior written approval from the NFMSS National Office
Roster Changes
Any additions to a roster after the start of the season must be:
- Submitted to NFMSS
- Reviewed and approved by the NFMSS National Office
Unapproved players are not eligible to participate.
Uniform Policy
All teams must compete in full, matching uniforms.
- Uniforms must be consistent across all team members

Failure to comply may result in removal from competition.
Enforcement & Penalties
NFMSS maintains strict compliance standards to protect the integrity of competition.
Violations of roster, eligibility, or uniform policies may result in the following actions:
- Immediate removal of ineligible player(s) from competition
- Forfeiture of games or contests in which violations occurred
- Suspension of the team from NFMSS events

All disciplinary actions are determined by the NFMSS National Office and are final and binding.
